A brand-new addition to NE1’s Summer in the City programme, Music by the Marina is a day-long mini-music festival taking place at Wesley Square near Newcastle City Marina on Saturday 29th July between 10am and 4pm.
Perfect for music lovers and fun-seeking families alike, Music by the Marina is completely free to attend and promises a fabulous day out on Newcastle’s Quayside with a stellar line-up of top-class talents playing all kinds of musical genres. Check out the full line-up and set times below.
10am – 10:30 am
Spin City DJs – A queer and global majority DJ collective headed by the amazing Awkward Black Girl, Spin City DJs are bringing the good vibes with a multi-genre set bound to get you dancing along. They’ll also be keeping the crowds entertained between performances!
10:30am – 11:15am
Nev Clay – A veteran of Newcastle’s music scene, local singer-songwriter Nev Clay will perform a set of his acclaimed modern-day folk music which comes highly recommended from the likes of BBC Radio 6 DJ Marc Riley
11:40am – 12:10pm
Idle Hands – Rock out as local teen guitar band Idle Hands take to the stage, hot on the heels of a sell-out gig at Ouseburn’s Cluny 2
12:40pm – 1:30pm
Haaji Ka Halva – Expect eclectic sounds fused with a mix of British and Pakistani influences from this young, female DJ
1:50pm – 2:30pm
John Pope Quintet – Get those toes tapping with the John Pope Quintet, an all-acoustic jazz outfit boasting an all-star line-up of some of the Northern region’s most dynamic musicians

Voice of the Town – Sing along to popular hits with this contemporary choir who’ve previously performed with the likes of Take That and Russell Watson

Spin City DJs – Our favourite local DJ collective will take to the stage once more with another pumping set perfect for bringing Music by the Marina to a close
